Anabosis: Dominus

Anabosis is a science fiction novel set in the distant future of the Verdian Tales Universe. It focusses on the adventures and experiences of ethicist Emma Grant as she explores the hermit world of Anabosis; a planet where an expansive tech conglomerate conducts top secret research and development free from the burden of law and external oversight. Though not a scientist herself, what Emma discovers along the way could upend the status quo and pull this lonely world out of its isolation.

In this chapter, Emma reviews the only Charterwork being done by the College of Robotics, Project Dominus. Flying to the oceanic Ray Station, she, Hal, and Tivar meet Helmut Dirgend, Provost of the college, who seems to dismiss the project, but refers them to one Dr. Erran with some reservation. To facilitate her audit, Emma travels to the bowels of the station, only to be greeted by a familiar looking robot named Midian. When it is revealed that Dr. Erran is both deranged and attempting to discover a cure for robot insanity, tragedy strikes and Emma’s review of project Dominus is cut short.
