Anabosis: TARSU

Anabosis is a science fiction novel set in the distant future of the Verdian Tales Universe. It focusses on the adventures and experiences of ethicist Emma Grant as she explores the hermit world of Anabosis; a planet where an expansive tech conglomerate conducts top secret research and development free from the burden of law and external oversight. Though not a scientist herself, what Emma discovers along the way could upend the status quo and pull this lonely world out of its isolation.

In Anabosis’ fourth chapter, Emma begins her review with the bombastic Project TARSU which, under the direction of one Amanda Burke, seeks to push the bounds of physics as they are commonly understood. By tunneling through space via the creation of negative mass ‘sink particles’, Amanda and her team can transport object across vast spans instantaneously, challenging what the concept of distance really even means. During her time with TARSU, Emma learns a bitter lesson about how, to many Anabosians, how research is used is secondary to the accomplishment of discovery itself.
