Anabosis: A Vacuous Voyage

Anabosis is a science fiction novel set in the distant future of the Verdian Tales Universe. It focusses on the adventures and experiences of ethicist Emma Grant as she explores the hermit world of Anabosis; a planet where an expansive tech conglomerate conducts top secret research and development free from the burden of law and external oversight. Though not a scientist herself, what Emma discovers along the way could upend the status quo and pull this lonely world out of its isolation.

In this second chapter, Emma and her husband, Hal, begin their journey to Anabosis aboard a technologically advanced spaceship called the Starlight. Along the way, they learn about some of the advancements made on the Hermit World. These technologies are stunning to the Verdian pair, and Emma is struck with how much is being withheld from society. While Tivar (their Anabosian guide) is sympathetic to her concerns, he explains that his people consider themselves stewards and only disseminate what they deem to be safe for the common public.
